The dominant narrative, or the story we most often hear, about the Industrial Revolution is that it is a time period during the 18th and 19th centuries in which rural, farming areas transformed into urban, industrial areas. This transformation took place in both Europe and America; it started in Europe and eventually spread to America. The Industrial Revolution had three main components to it: a technological component, a socioeconomic component, and a cultural component. The occurrence of the Industrial Revolution in these two countries revived both societies and influenced Europe and America becoming the world powers they are today.
There is significant evidence to support the dominant narrative about the Industrial Revolution. This evidence can be found in books and websites, including books and websites published by historians, and even the Encyclopedia Britannica. These sources are very credible because the historians who publish this information do so by drawing on primary sources from this time period- the 18th and 19th centuries. In addition to this, these sources do not paint the Industrial Revolution as an event that did not harm anyone. In fact, they acknowledge that the lower working class was negatively affected at times due to harsh working conditions and low pay, which leads me to believe that they are unbiased sources.
